Why would anyone want to be NotPopular?

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Am I trying to be popular with people? If I were still trying to do so, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10

The world does not want God to be popular. If you follow him you are a freak, a loser, or naive. Being popular is seen as good because it means people like you, but at what cost? Not being Popular is a great thing in God's eyes. God wants you to live in the way He has set out for you to follow is instructions and to worship Him only. I'm not saying you can't have friends or can't live a fun life. You can have all that and more!  Our mission on this earth is not to be popular but to spread God's love into the world. Being a Christian means doing things that people of this world see as pointless, weak, or ignorant. Being a Christian means not being popular when God has called you to do much more.

This blog is about our everyday struggles as Christians; when our sinful nature wants us to be popular but we know God has called us to do much more! It's an encouragement for Christians to live for Christ and challenge themselves.

So don't be popular when it means compromising your beliefs, your convictions, when it means disobeying God. Don't be popular when you choose to stay home from the party so you can pay better attention in church the next morning. Don't be popular when you choose to wait till you're 21 to have alcohol. Don't be popular when you save yourself for marriage. Don't be popular when you tell the truth. Do what God wants you to do, rather than what the world wants you to do. Stick with Jesus, love Him, serve Him, and tell others about Him!

I hope you will join me in our quest to not be popular for Christ! My prayer is that this blog brings you encouragement and strength on days when being popular seems more appealing than doing whats right.

James 1:12 says, "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him."
