Are you prepared to open your ears and hearts to the message of the Gospel? Paul speaks in Colossians 1:24-29 about suffering and Christ. When you think about it, the two really can’t be separated. Without Christ’s suffering, we would suffer forever. However, Christ is glorified when we suffer because we know our pain is only temporary. Christ suffered once for the salvation of all. It is complete. It is finished. Jesus saved us. God used His Son to save us, not with rainbows and butterflies, but with suffering. Christ without suffering would do us nothing. Christ, with suffering, has given us glory, peace, comfort, love, joy, and eternal life with Him. Christ, with suffering, has given us more than we deserve. Discover the joy that Christ brings to those who suffer, take seriously the suffering that Christ endured, fully understand and take to heart the Gospel; that we no longer need to suffer because of what Jesus did for us. I hope you share this news with others because it is crucial, and it really does make a difference.
Colossians 1:24-29
Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church. I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.
